Projects of Every Size

From improving a network or mounting a new television to a complete home with security, automation, lighting, access and audio-visual control.

A clear route from consultation to completion

Every project starts with a visit to your home so we can understand the property, your requirements and how you want the finished system to work.

The level of design and documentation is then matched to the scale and complexity of the project.

01

Smaller projects

For work such as improving a network, adding equipment or installing a television, we provide a quotation after the initial visit. Once agreed, the required hardware is invoiced. Installation is invoiced when the work is complete.

02

Larger projects

For projects requiring full design, we prepare a scope of works, an overall specification and an initial budget estimate. If you wish to proceed, the design stage is invoiced and we produce a detailed quotation.

03

Delivery & handover

We coordinate with the client and other professionals, install and test the system, complete the programming and provide clear documentation at handover.

Network Overhaul

Replacing unreliable Wi-Fi with a professionally surveyed, remotely managed network.

The requirement

The client’s Wi-Fi performed adequately in parts of the house, but other areas had weak coverage or no usable signal. Before recommending equipment, we needed to understand the true coverage and sources of interference throughout the property.

Survey before specification

We completed a full Wi-Fi heatmap, measuring signal strength and interference at multiple positions in every room and overlaying the results onto a floor plan. The heatmap showed how the existing access points covered the property and allowed us to determine the correct number, location and radio channel for the replacements.

Professional infrastructure

We installed a new Araknis router, enabling the network to be monitored and managed remotely. An Araknis PoE switch connected and powered each access point, so only one network cable was required at each location.

Minimal disruption

The equipment was configured and updated in our office before installation. This allowed the work on site to be completed in a single day, minimising disruption to the household.

Measured results

Once the new network was operating, we completed a second heatmap. This confirmed access-point positioning, channel selection and transmission power. Excessive signal strength can create interference and reduce performance just as significantly as weak coverage.

Documented handover

At completion, the system and its configuration were fully documented, providing a reliable basis for future support and expansion.

Whole-House System

A coordinated design bringing cinema, television, networking, gate entry, CCTV, lighting and music together throughout the home.

Understanding the brief

We met the client at their home to discuss a dedicated cinema room, multiple televisions, Cat6 outlets, aerial distribution, remotely operated gate entry, a video doorbell, wall touchscreens for CCTV and door entry, advanced lighting control and whole-house music.

Design and quotation

We produced a scope of works and, once agreed, coordinated with the architect and lighting designer to obtain floor plans and details of every lighting circuit. From this information we designed the required infrastructure. Following a few minor client revisions, we prepared a detailed quotation covering equipment and installation.

    Coordination

After approval, we liaised with the project manager and electrical contractor. OPS supplied the specialist cable, which the electricians installed alongside the electrical first fix.

  2. 02

    First fix

We checked that cables had been correctly installed and labelled, installed the Lutron lighting-control equipment and confirmed that the property was ready for the next stage.

  3. 03

    Second fix

As the building work progressed, we returned to terminate and test cabling, install speakers and establish basic lighting scenes so the lighting system could be used.

  4. 04

    Equipment installation

Once decorating and the majority of building work were complete, we installed the principal equipment and commissioned the network.

  5. 05

    Final fix & handover

As the client moved in, we installed televisions and the remaining components, completed the Control4 and lighting programming, tested the finished system and signed it off with the client.
